Chamber changes heart
Apollo Bay's Chamber of Commerce is now adopting a neutral stance on a controversial local development.
The Chamber has held a Special General Meeting to discuss the 275 Barham River Road proposal.
The Chamber says debate at the meeting was spirited but civil.
It says many aspects of the development and its potential impact on the local community were discussed, including road access, the effect on existing local businesses, the shortage of rental accommodation, the support of cultural and community organisations and employment.
The Chamber passed two motions, to withdraw its support of the planning application and for the Chamber to take a neutral stance on the development.
The Chamber says in a post on its Facebook page, it looks forward to continuing discussions regarding the development and seeking positive outcomes for the Apollo Bay community.
