Birregurra Rec. Reserve has scored $250k to go towards brand new oval lighting

Birregurra Recreation Reserve is among 73 projects to score a share in $22 million from the Victorian Government’s Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.

The fund is supporting projects across five categories, including Female Friendly Facilities and Community Sports Lighting.

Western Victoria MP Gayle Tierney announced that Birregurra has scored $250,000 to upgrade the oval lighting.

The lighitng hopes to improve the safety for football training and night time activities in order to maintain existing participation and better manage the condition of the oval surface.

The Victorian Government will also contribute $25,000 towards a new electronic scoreboard for Colac’s premier cricket facility, Lake Oval Colac.

“Congratulations to the Birregurra Saints and all the sporting clubs at Birregurra Recreation Reserve and Lake Oval Colac," Ms. Tierney said.

This boost will go a long way to support the growing number of people keen to get involved in local sport and recreation,” she said.

“Local clubs bring so many of us together, this is a great example of how the Victorian Government is making sport and recreation more accessible, welcoming and inclusive for more Victorians.”

“The Victorian Government is giving communities like ours the facilities they need so more locals can play the sports they love.”
