As of Sunday, March 22, the total number of cases in Victoria has increased 296, 67 of which confirmed on Saturday.

Of the total 296 cases, there have been 256 in metropolitan Melbourne and 25 in regional Victoria, 2 of those in the Surf Coast and 2 in Warrnambool.

A further announcement is expected from the State Government this morning, after Premier Daniel Andrews released a statement yesterday implementing a shutdown of all non-essential activities across the state - including (as of Tuesday) schools and non-essential services and businesses.

Supermarkets, banks and pharmacies are of the select that will remain as normal.

Colac Otway Shire Mayor Jason Schram encouraged local residents to practice what was advised.

"We must remain calm and remain strong for each other. Most of all, we have to stay healthy and listen to the advice on how we stop the spread. So social distancing is the key to it.

"Do not make any unnecessary contact with anyone, don't do it. Take all the advice on hygiene, take it extremely seriously, and this will prevent deaths in our community."
