Officers from the Lorne police force have been patrolling the Great Ocean Road, stopping motorists and conducting license checks.

The crackdown has come to ensure travelers along the coast are complying with Melbourne's COVID-19 lockdown protocols.

Additionally, Melbourne police will continue to heavily monitor main arterial roads heading out of the city as part of operation Sentinel, in an attempt keep regional Victorians safe from the growing threat of Coronavirus.

Anyone caught attempting to breach the lockdown orders will be slapped with a $1,652 fine.
