Connor Knight earns guest spot at Taste of Tamworth

Trinity College student and Red Door performer Connor Knight has earned himself a guest appearance in COPACC’s upcoming country music spectacular Taste of Tamworth.

David Carter, of the Golden Guitar winning duo Carter & Carter, selected Connor from a field of talented local performers.

Connor will take to the stage on July 21 in the second half of Taste of Tamworth, performing the Fleetwood Mac hit Landslide, that was later also a success for the Dixie Chicks.

He’ll re-join the cast for the closing number of the show, along with the other Colac and district singers and musicians who vied for the guest spot.

A favourite song of his mum’s, the Colac 16-year-old said Landslide - a story of sadness, hope and change - also carried meaning for him.

“Life can be tough and sometimes one difficult thing can come after another,” he said.

“I wanted to learn it for mum, but also for me because I really like the song.”

Connor is no stranger to the COPACC stage, having performed in eight Red Door musicals, four of which he carried a lead role.

He’s currently gearing up for Trinity College’s upcoming musical Footloose in August, when he’ll play the conservative Reverend Shaw Moore.

Connor has also been a regular on the local weekend performing circuit, playing and singing at the Forrest Soup Fest, Miss Francesca’s, the St Mary’s Garden Expo, Gosling Creek Winery, Cornucopia Birregurra and Sunday markets at Kawarren.

Taste of Tamworth is on at COPACC on Saturday, July 21 at 8pm. Tickets start at $43 for adults, $38 for concession and $26 for under 30s. Groups of four get a 10 per cent discount.
