McCracken replaces Potter
Colac-Otway Shire's new mayor is the youngest person to be elected to the role.
29 year old Joe McCracken takes over as mayor from Chris Potter.
Jason Schram will be Mayor McCracken's deputy.
They were elected at a special council meeting.
Councillor McCracken says he's proud to be the new mayor and has set out his priorities.
"There are a lot of priorities, but our biggest one is the selection of the CEO.
Mayor McCracken also has rate rises in his sights.
"With our budget process I want to make sure our rate rises are responsible. In the past they have been 5-6-7-8% rate rises. Not under my watch."
The new Deputy Mayor, Cr Schram, played a key role in securing next year's AFL pre-season match in Colac between Geelong and Essendon.
"I'm big on major events that bring money to town so I'll keep at it with those sort of things."
They have been elected for a 12-month term.
