"Looking at the usual things which is the fatal four being speed, fatigue, drugs and alcohol and non-restraints," Senior Sergeant Slingsby said.

"But if I could add another one in there it's driver distraction, mobile phones and that sort of stuff," he said.

"Look guys will be out there in total force."

The operation commenced midnight Thursday and will continue until Labour Day Monday.

Local police have already been kept busy this week, with several incidents involving dangerous driving.

A 20-year-old is set to face court after being detected travelling at 172km/h on Tuesday at Warncoort, while a man from Swan Marsh lost his license after being caught drink driving along Colac Ballarat Road at Ondit on Monday.
